Virginia Beach Audubon Society

The Virginia Beach Audubon Society is a chapter of the National Audubon Society. VBAS is an active conservation and environmental organization dedicated to the Audubon cause of saving birds, wildlife, and habitat.

VBAS sponsors monthly programs, field trips, education programs, and support for the Virginia Beach School System. We are also a major contributor to the Virginia Beach Winter Wildlife Festival. The Virginia Beach Audubon Society welcomes volunteers and new members. Members receive the Audubon Magazine. The public is invited to participate in all activities.

Our year runs from the beginning of July to the end of June each ear.  The 2023-2024 Leadership team will be Kelley Creger, President, Marion Zabot, Vice President, Karen Lasley as Secretary and Marc Hines as Treasurer.

Our next membership meeting will be  held on the October 9, 2023 at 7:00 PM.  We meet at the Eastern Shore Chapel Episcopal Church, 2013 Laskin Road, Va Beach.

 Field Trips

No field trips have been planned for this year due to the lak of a Field trip leader.  Keep an eye on the Field Trip page for changes and other local trips sponsored by our Partner groups.

 Chapter Communications

We have three methods to communicate Chapter information. Our primary method is via direct email such as this email. Please keep us up to date if you change your email.  We typically see about a dozen emails returned on every mailing due to mail boxes that no longer exist.  Your email address is never shared with any other organization nor with National.  Our second method is the Virginia Beach Audubon website, Here we try to keep you up to date on meetings, field trips as well as special events and other regional activities that may interest you. Finally we have the VB Audubon Facebook page, Members typically post pictures of birds that they have seen recently, ask questions about unusual birds as well as list events from other local organizations that people may be interested in.

National News

To keep abreast of National news please go to the website. You will find great stories, fantastic birding pictures, lots of statistics as well as a call to arms when legislation is destroying habitat.

So please respond to the above items, keep us up to date on your email address and continue to stay safe.
